For those of you who follow the blog may remember that I’ve recently started to volunteer at the SF SPCA. Thanks to the volunteer opportunity, I am out in the Mission area every weekend. Volunteering and exploring the area has been a fun experience. I’ve had a chance to eat and fall in love with Salumeria. I’m also pleased to report that I’ve found my favorite bar in the city: Trick Dog.
When I first walked by Trick Dog, I almost missed it because it doesn’t have a sign. Yes, it’s one of those super hipster-esque places that does not require a sign; people worthy of Trick Dog’s perfectly crafted cocktails will find it. Behind this unassuming door lies a whole different world. In case your running low on your hipster mojo that day and can’t seem to find the entrance, just look for the door with a pineapple on the doorknob.

There are many reasons why I love Trick Dog above all other bars in SF: perfectly concocted cocktails, delicious bar menu and the creative vibe. Their drink menu is printed as pantone! However, one of my favorite aspects of Trick Dog is their upstairs dining area. Trick Dog has taken the activity of drinking with your friends at a bar and dressed it up with an air of class and sophistication. Now you can spend an afternoon or evening with your friends over drinks and delicious food the way a grown-up should. There’s no fighting to place your drink order with a bartender. There’s no elbowing or shoving while you try to take a sip of a sub-par cocktail. A dream come true?!

After you are done soaking in the energy of the room, pick up their pantone menu and order your drink. The great thing here is that you can’t go wrong with any of their drinks. Even their non-alcoholic drink is superb. Just note that after 5pm, the upstairs dining area is only for people ordering food.

After you’ve got your drinks, order some of their bar food. Again, no wrong choices here.

Trick Dog is one of those places that words can’t fully describe. It’s a place that has to be experienced. For me, it’s one of those amazing places you hesitate to share with others and only bring your closest of closest friends so you can keep it as your little secret. Stop by and enjoy this magical place before it’s too late.
Happy Tuesday!
