Boy have I got a treat for you today! This weekend, I went over to Oakland to eat at B-Side BBQ. This is the newest restaurant from the ever so talented Chef Tanya Holland who also runs Brown Sugar Kitchen in Oakland. If that doesn’t amaze you enough, Chef Holland was also featured in Oprah’s magazine. If Oprah loves her, you’ve GOT to love her too. I’ve always loved my trips out to Brown Sugar Kitchen to eat Chef Holland’s waffles with her brown sugar butter and apple cider syrup. When I heard she opened B-Side BBQ, I knew it was a trip I needed to make. And yes, it was so worth it! Allow me to illustrate the point via pictures.

We first started off with some delicious drinks. They were light enough and paired perfectly with the food.

Then we ordered the fried okra as appetizer and sides to go along with our meal.

The sides we ordered were potato salad, mac n cheese, spicy coleslaw and cornbread. While all the sides were (for lack of better word) mind-blowing, I especially enjoyed the cornbread. It was crispy on the outside yet soft and moist on the inside. How does she do it?! Just looking at the picture makes me crave it!

At last, our meal came. (Hungry yet?!)

We ordered all the meat items on the menu. The flavors were phenomenal and the meat just came off the bones. We, as a group agreed that the pulled pork, jerk spiced baby backs and beef brisket were the best.

B-Side BBQ was by far the BEST bbq I’ve ever had here in CA. The flavors were perfect and not overpowering the meat in anyway and the sides were fantastic. If you are a cornbread lover or want some good BBQ, you’ve GOT to put B-Side BBQ on your list. Yes, it is a bit of a trip out to Oakland, but you will not regret it. It’s definitely a trip I am going to be making again in the very near future.
